University of Cambridge Darwin Lecture Series – “Beauty”

Every year since 1986, the University of Cambridge Darwin College has presented a public lecture series on various topics, always with an inter-disciplinary focus.

The 2011 Lecture series is on the topic of “Beauty” and includes talks by Biologists, Philosophers, Historians, and more. It’s geared towards a general audience and is a fascinating look at this largely ambiguous topic. You can check out the webseries online at the Lecture Website or subscribe for free via iTunes U.

About Jennifer Carey

My name is Jennifer Carey and I am a student and educator of the human condition. I have long studied history, trained in archaeology, and found a passion in the field of education. As a long-time lover of technology (my father bought our family our first Apple IIe when I was three), I love technology and what it can bring to the classroom. I have taught at various Universities for many years as well as educating gifted teenagers through the Johns Hopkins program, the Center for Talented Youth. I am currently the Director of Educational Technology at the Ransom Everglades School (a secular independent school) in Miami, Fl. I also have a few educational podcasts on iTunes from my days teaching at TCU: The Ancient City of Rome, Classical Archaeology (2008), Classical Archaeology (2009), Introduction to Classical Myth, and Ancient Eats. They’re enhanced (so you get the PowerPoints along with the vocal), but please excuse the poor audio editing. Feel free to Email Me or follow me on twitter.

  1. Jennifer, you really are doing a tremendous job with your blog. Thank you for letting us all know about this lecture series on “Beauty” that is online. Strange, I did not see my picture when I hit on the link you provided.

    • Jennifer Lockett says:

Ahhh, thanks Michael. I believe that you were the topic of the keynote… Isn’t your photo copyrighted? I bet they just didn’t have the funds to put it up there.

    • Jennifer Lockett says:

Well, I do have eight whole readers… I’m clearly on the edge of seizing your title – only a few million more to go! And don’t go back to paying, I have it on good authority that the traps you set to catch friends are working just fine!

  2. That was the right response! :) Seriously though, I’m starting to feel the competitive side in me emerge. I worry your blog will become far more popular than mine–people will like you more and then I will have to go back and start paying people to be my friend.

  3. That made me cry I laughed so hard! I so hate you now. I can never tell you anything again. I can’t believe you called me out on my traps! :)
