Da Vinci Forgery is Authentic – Worth Millions

Art Historian and Oxford Professor Martin Kemp has officially declared his belief that “La Belle Principessa,” once believed to be a stunning da Vinci forgery, is in fact an original piece by the famed artist. The piece purchased in auction for a little over $20,000 may in fact be worth millions.

That’s a pretty awesome piece of news – hope they can reach full agreement on it. Consensus on art validation’s always the hard one, of course.

I had a chance, years ago, to take a close look at some of his sketches – utterly fantastic technique.

Oddly enough, I’ve juist been blogging about Da Vinci in modern culture, though not the man himself: http://mjwrightnz.wordpress.com/2011/10/01/browns-the-da-vinci-code-as-social-engineering/

Thanks! I’ll check him out! I’ve always found Da Vinci’s sketches (be they for planning or recording or his thought-process) to actually be more beautiful than his paintings… something about the way his mind works that comes out in his work.
