In an unprecedented move, I nominated you for the Papacy! Mostly so you could have the wardrobe and ride in the Popemobile.

In all seriousness, I’m exceedingly sad that we will not see any change the in the Catholic Church, for all of the cardinals were appointed by JP II, and Benny.

Although they will frequently alternate Popes in the sense of “conservative-liberal.” Still, I do not think that even a “liberal” Pope will be much of a change on things like women’s rights, birth control, etc. I think they would focus more on battling corruption and abuse (not un-noble cause).

Sadly, the last “liberal pope” only lasted 33 days. Forgive my cynicism, but I’m not holding my breath on any internal reform regarding the many abuse scandals that Benny tried to brush under the carpet.

There is a rumor going around that Benny retired because of a new scandal that one of the Italian Newspapers just got hold of.
